Where do we start......Several years ago perhaps, Heidi thought she wouldn't want to ride again and I didn't really know how to ride. John as usual saved us; with his natural way with horses and his ability to 'train' the owners too, John provided us with the tools we needed to be confident with our horses once again.. 

 

 

Ali (Nelson)

Hi everyone, just wanted to say a massive thank you to John.John arrived to find Nelson and me at the lowest of lows. I had owned Nelson for approximately a year, having had quite a break from horses (8 years). I decided that I could fit one back into my life and my Dad was nagging me that it would be a good idea. So I decided that I would look around for a happy hacker, famous last words as I found Nelson, a stunning 5 year old 16.3 Selle Francais bright bay gelding and fell in love with him.

All started out absolutely fine but over time he niggled away at my confidence until I had to admit I was frightened, following an incident whereby Nelson had bucked like a lunatic and then galloped home riderless. Ohh that woeful day!!

Nelson had turned into a complete hooligan. I couldn’t even get him to leave his field which was some way from our stables, and he would terrorise me as soon as I put the head collar on him. All was despair at this time!

In March 2008, John came over to see this monster of a horse, and the rest is the most incredible story ever. I can’t say it has been easy and my own frustrations at times have tested my character and I’m sure Johns, thinking that I would never get it but John has instilled me with such a better understanding of a horses natural way of being that I am eternally grateful. 

Nelson now is the gentlest softest boy you would want in a horse, he enjoys his work, and is progressing in his education in a relaxed frame of mind, which makes everything we do together so enjoyable. I now look back over the past 18 months and cannot believe how far I have come with Johns guidance. Nelson and I have a very bright future thanks to John.

Joh (Serenade)

My sessions with John have been a complete eye-opener.  They have been fascinating and amazing. John has taught me how to be closer to my horse Serenade by understanding her and by understanding Horse Language, although I feel that I have still probably only just scratched the surface of this beautiful subject of horses and their will to work, to play and have friendships with people.

Since meeting John my riding has improved and I have so much more confidence now that I have learnt the right way, a way that Serenade understands and I no longer confuse her, consequently we are now together, closer and bonded.
Serenade must feel even happier, content and secure now that I have learnt how to be gently in control.

I have spent a lot of my life around horses and know that John has a gift, a special way with horses. They relax with him and so are happy to be with him and do as he suggests.  I now ride only in the halter in the school and on the forest and Serenade is better than ever with this arrangement. Freedom and trust fill my mind.
